Eli Manning Is Rumored to Be Losing Giants Locker Room

Category : new york giants , Sports

The end of the Eli Manning era with the New York Giants is near, and everybody can feel it. Unfortunately for the Giants, some players want it to happen sooner than later. Everybody questioned the Giants decision to stick with Eli Manning for 2018.
Even after a disastrous showing by him and the rest of the team last season, the Giants didn’t do a ton to really upgrade their most significant needs. Now, the Giants are stuck in the same position as last season as they are currently 1-5 on the year.
By now, everybody has heard about the behind-the-scenes issues going on. Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is far from satisfied with the Giants offense. He didn’t really have anything good to say about his quarterback, and he doesn’t seem to really have any sort of on-field connection with Manning either at this point in his career.
During week five, the Giants took a devastating overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers on the road. Even though they were defeated, everybody started to get the impression that the Giants were trending upwards.
That thought was immediately shot down as the Giants were dominated on Thursday Night Football by the Philadelphia Eagles. And to make the situation between Manning and his receivers worse, he threw for a total of zero touchdowns, with an interception. Now, there are rumors of a potential locker room debacle between Manning and his teammates.
The Leader Losing the Locker Room?
If it wasn’t obvious enough that Manning was losing the locker room, then maybe a report by ESPN detailing some behind-the-scenes complaints can help clarify how bad things are going in New York. And keep in mind, this is in addition to what Odell Beckham said publicly last week.
“Behind closed doors, several Giants players have expressed frustration with Manning’s performance, according to sources. One player specifically commented recently about Manning’s inability to do anything against Cover 2 and zone defenses.”
“Players watch the tape,” another source said. “They know the deal.”
It’s not hard to tell how frustrated several key players are on the Giants. We see the sideline meltdowns and hear the interviews. So any report coming from anonymous sources regarding the struggles to believe in the veteran quarterback at this point is highly likely to be true.
It’s definitely not a good look for the Giants new faces in the front office who publicly backed Eli Manning over the offseason. Rumor has it that the Giants cleaned house because everybody was starting to lose hope in Manning and ownership did not want to hear it. Well, now the Giants have no choice but to begin scouting quarterback’s now as the problem in the locker continues to grow larger.

There was no ignoring the frustration on New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr.’s face shortly ahead of halftime in Week 6. And that frustration took center stage when the talented yet outspoken receiver stormed back to the team’s locker room with time left on the clock.
Not only that, but as ESPN’s Jordan Schultz revealed, he did so with the Giants offense still out there.

Ugly Start to Week 6 for Odell Beckham Jr., Giants
In short, it was a horrible first half for both Beckham and the Giants offense as a whole. The team trailed 24-6 heading into the half, and while Beckham had just two catches for 12 yards, it was no reason for him to leave early.
It’s unknown if something was going on, but Beckham didn’t seem to be with a trainer while walking back. The talented wideout didn’t emerge from the locker room at first with his teammates, but later came out and took a seat on the bench.
We’ll keep you updated as additional information on the situation with Beckham is revealed.

LOOK: Giants RB Saquon Barkley Draws Barry Sanders Comparison From Dez Bryant

Free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant took some time away from tweeting about his former team, and instead heaped praise on one of the NFL’s newest stars. During an impressive first half from New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in Week 6, Bryant took to Twitter to show some love.
And the longtime Dallas Cowboys pass-catcher did so by comparing Barkley to legendary NFL running back Barry Sanders.

whenever somebody do comparisons it’s way off.. the Barkley sanders comparison its 100% legit
— Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) October 12, 2018

The Barkley-Sanders comparison has certainly been tossed out before, but most are quick to pump the brakes on it. Apparently, Bryant isn’t one of those people. While Barkley has looked exceptional in the Thursday Night Football matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, the same can’t be said about the rest of the team.
At halftime, the Giants trailed 24-6 and Barkley was one of the lone bright spots. He’s totaled 71 rushing yards on nine carries while catching four passes for 78 yards.

Barkley’s Impressive Rookie Season Thus Far
Whenever you pick a running back in the top-five of the NFL draft, there’s plenty of risk involved. The transition from college to playing at the NFL level is incredibly tough for the position. Fortunately, Barkley’s ability to do it all has helped ease the growing pains.
Through the first five games (slightly more now), the Giants rookie has managed to dominate as a pass-catcher whenever he’s unable to get the ground game going. He’s also scored five touchdowns through those first five games as well. It seems Barkley’s transition is going smoothly to this point, aside from his team’s struggles.

Saquon Barkley’s Girlfriend, Anna Congdon, Posts Photo With Baby From Giants Game

Category : Football , new york giants , NFL , Sports , WAGs

It looks like Saquon Barkley’s new baby girl took in a Giants game with his girlfriend, Anna Congdon. After the Giants-Saints game in Week 4, Congdon posted the above photo on Instagram.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference,” Congdon posted in the caption.
Congdon and Barkley have been dating since his days at Penn State. The couple welcomed Jada to the world earlier this year, just days before the NFL draft. Congdon also recently posted a photo of Jada Claire with her mother.
“Happy birthday to the woman i am lucky enough to call mom; whose genuine spirit radiates like no other. thank you for teaching me to always see the best in others, to trust in God’s plan, and to love my family above myself. being a mother came natural because of the example you set, for that i am forever indebted to you. ❤️,” Congdon said of her mother.

Anna’s Family Has Been Helping the Couple Raise Jada Claire

Barkley told the New York Post back in June that Congdon was still living with Jada back in Pennsylvania, and her family was helping the couple raise Jada. The plan is for the entire family to move to New York, but there has been no word on when (or if it has already) that will take place.
“I think my girlfriend has been doing a great job of taking care of our daughter, and her family has been helping her out a lot,” Barkley told the New York Post. “…Try to find the right time for her to move in, and we could just live together. I am very involved, but I wish I was way more involved, I wish I was there with her, to be able to spend more time with my daughter would be amazing.”
On the field, it has been a challenging start for Barkley and the Giants. Barkley has played well, but the Giants are just 1-4 through their first five games. Barkley has rushed for 308 yards and three touchdowns. He has also been heavily involved in the passing game with 274 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Barkley admits he wants to grow into one of the leaders of the team, and believes the offense is only going to get better.
“That’s something I wanted to do as a goal of mine, but I know you can’t just take on that role from day one,” Barkley told The Morning Call. “You’ve got to grow into that role and earn the respect of your teammates, and that’s something I’m going to continue to try to do every single day…I’ve been saying from day one since I got here that I believe in this offense, I believe in this team, I believe in the coaching staff and I believe the sky’s the limit. It wasn’t going to be pretty from day one. We wouldn’t want it that way anyway. We’ve got to keep growing.”

Eagles vs. Giants Pick: Best Bets for Week 6 NFL Game

IIt’s a primetime NFC East matchup on Thursday Night Football in Week 6, with the Philadelphia Eagles squaring off with the New York Giants. While there are quite a few ways to bet any NFL game, I’m going to break down the best available options for this matchup.
These bets may include taking one team with the spread, teasing the line with the total, prop bets or anything else that jumps out. In the end, it’s all about just finding the best possible options. Some of these options may only be offered on specific sites, so I’ll be sure to clarify where each option can be found.
Let’s dive into the action by starting with the quarterback matchup.
*Note: All bets are offered on Intertops, with multiple options on other sites as well.

Eli Manning +10.5 Passing Yards (-130) vs. Carson Wentz
There’s no question about the fact that Carson Wentz is the better quarterback at this point in his career. But the simple fact is, Eli Manning has had his way against the Philadelphia Eagles over the past four games. According to StatMuse, Manning has averaged 353.3 yards per game over that span while throwing 11 touchdown passes in that span.
Tack on the fact that the Eagles struggle against quarterbacks, allowing 1,462 yards and eight touchdowns to this point, plus the Giants at home on primetime, and I love this spot. Wentz could very well have a good game, but Manning has so many weapons at his disposal and could easily out-pass Wentz.

Sterling Shepard -4.5 Receiving Yards (-125) vs. Alshon Jeffery
Sterling Shepard is not only coming on currently, but he draws a very beatable matchup here. On the season, Philly has allowed 84 catches for 1,064 yards and seven touchdowns to opposing wideouts, and that bodes well for both Shepard and teammate Odell Beckham Jr. Thursday.
Going even beyond that, the numbers Shepard has posted against the Eagles over the past four games are downright scary. He’s averaged 95.8 yards per game while catching 28 passes and four touchdowns, per StatMuse. This means he’s averaging seven catches, over 95 yards and one touchdown per game against his Week 6 opponent.
On the opposite side, Alshon Jeffery gets a matchup with a Giants secondary who’s been exceptional against wide receivers this year. They’ve given up just 659 yards and two touchdowns to the position, and there’s no reason to believe that will change this week. Although Jeffery is a No. 1 wideout and Shepard is No. 2, it’s completely irrelevant in this spot.

Carson Wentz Over 18.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Carson Wentz hasn’t taken off and run often this year, but he did total five attempts for 26 yards last game against the Minnesota Vikings. If the opportunities are there, the Eagles quarterback has no problem taking them, as we saw him run 64 times for 299 yards last season.
Although the Giants defense has been solid against quarterbacks, they’ve allowed both the most rushing attempts and yards to the position, and it’s not all that close. Throughout the season, the G-Men have given up 32 attempts for 179 yards – an average of 35.8 per game. I don’t expect Wentz to run for 40-plus yards, but seeing him top 20-25 is more than possible.

Eagles vs. Giants Combined Total Sacks Over 4.5 (-120)
This is an incredibly low number, almost to the point that it’s a little concerning. Not only are the Giants getting Olivier Vernon back from injury, but both the Eagles and Giants rank near the top of the league in sacks allowed. Philadelphia has given up 17 sacks while the Giants have seen Manning brought down 16 times.
While the Giants have been terrible when it comes to generating a pass-rush, totaling just six sacks, the return of Vernon will help with that quite a bit. As for the Eagles, they’ve totaled two or more sacks in four of five games, including tallying four in Week 1.
I’m assuming this number is low due to the Giants’ poor pass-rush, but if there was a spot for them to break through and rack up 2-3, this is it.

Odell Beckham Jr. Longest Reception Over 28.5 Yards (+100)
I spoke above about the struggles of the Eagles secondary against wide receivers, and there’s no reason to think one of the NFL’s best wideouts won’t exploit that.
This season, Philadelphia has allowed a reception of at least 29 yards in every game, and a few featured more than one. Beckham is explosive in every sense of the word and he’s capable of turning a screen pass or slant into a house call.
The reason this number is so low is due to the fact that we haven’t seen the 25-year-old have one of his monster 60-yard touchdowns yet this season, but that doesn’t mean it’s not coming. Plus, the thought of Beckham on primetime in front of a home crowd only adds to my personal belief that he’s in for a big game.
Game Bet (Extra): Tease Giants to +7.5 And Over 39
I’m not loving the game bet, but I tacked it on as an additional option. The weather is iffy in New York but I still believe we’ll see points here. The Giants offense matches up well in this spot with the Eagles and these two teams have seen the over hit in seven of their last 10 matchups, per OddsShark.
Personally, I can see the Giants winning this game and was tempted to take them on the moneyline, so I don’t blame you for going that route. But in order to play it somewhat safer, the teaser just makes sense in this spot.
