Star Trek: 10 Plot Twists That Hurt DS9 (And 10 That Saved It)

Category : Lists

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is without a doubt one of the most unique Star Trek series out there. Most fans know that this series went in a very interesting and unique direction, and even if they don’t particularly like the series, they can agree that it tried to show us a side of Star Trek that we had never seen before. Most fans rank Deep Space Nine as being better than Voyager, although slightly weaker than The Next Generation. However, there are still plenty of people out there who think Deep Space Nine is actually the best Star Trek series ever, and they might just be right. Deep Space Nine was dark, gritty, and more “real” than a lot of the other series. This was a desolate space station out in the middle of nowhere. In this far corner of space that no one cares about, some interesting things can happen. In fact, Deep Space Nine was famous for its many plot twists throughout the series. It might just have had the most amount of plot twists compared to other Star Trek series. Most of these plot twists revolved around the characters. Just when we thought we knew a central crew member, new information popped up that shocked us all. For the most part, these plot twists were actually pretty good. Other times, they fell flat on their face, and actually hurt the show in the long run. In this article, we’ll explore some of the best plot twists, and some of the ones we wish we never saw. Here are 10 Plot Twists That Hurt DS9 (And 10 That Saved It).
20 Hurt It – Jadzia’s ExitOne of the best characters in Deep Space Nine was without a doubt Jadzia Dax. This interesting Starfleet Officer brought so much to the story, and she presented us with a type of life form that many were not familiar with. As a Trill, she lives in symbiosis with a life form that actually takes up residence inside her body. This life form is extremely long-lived, and is very wise. Jadzia Dax is actually a mixture of both the personalities of the symbiont and her own.For many, Jadzia Dax was the main reason they even watched the show. Unfortunately, the character was written off partway through the series, as the actress who portrayed her moved on to another project. It was a massive blow to the show, and many feel like it never really recovered afterwards.19 Saved It – Worf And Jadzia’s MarriageEven though Jadzia Dax wasn’t around for the entire series, she definitely left us with some memorable moments while she was on board Deep Space Nine. It wasn’t until Worf arrived that she began to find true love.Everyone remembers Lieutenant Commander Worf from The Next Generation, and it was a smart move to bring him back. Even better, we got a marriage that no one ever saw coming, and it added a lot to the show as a result. The actual scene of their marriage ceremony was one that will be forever remembered by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans.18 Hurt It – Kira Instead Of Ro LarenKira was definitely a pretty interesting addition to the crew. However, many fans identify her as one of the weak links as far as the story goes. There was something about her that was off-putting for a lot of fans, and stories that focused on her never seemed to have the same impact as those which focused on other crew members.According to the official production notes, Kira was never intended to fill that role on the show. That role was instead intended for another Star Trek character called Ro Laren. This Bajoran was a fan favorite and a recurring character on The Next Generation. Unfortunately, the actress who portrayed Ro Laren turned down the role, so Kira was written into the show instead. This might have hurt Deep Space Nine in the long run.17 Saved It – The DS9 Crew On Kirk’s EnterpriseReal Star Trek fans know that you just can’t beat the original series. There was something very charming and intoxicating about the series that started it all, and when the later series paid homage to Kirk’s Enterprise, it was always appreciated. Such was the case when Deep Space Nine featured an episode called “Trials And Tribble-ations”, in which the main crew of Deep Space Nine were transported back in time to Kirk’s Enterprise. It was one of the best decisions by the writers, and the fans loved it.Captain Sisko and his crew travel back in time to prevent the assassination of Captain Kirk. What makes this episode so impressive isn’t the story. It’s the fact that the special effects crew somehow seamlessly blended the characters of Deep Space Nine into the actual footage of the original series.16 Hurt It – Bashir Is Revealed To Be An AugmentDr. Julian Bashir served as the inevitable inclusion of a Medical Expert in the crew, but he behaved in a way that no other doctor ever had. He was charming, funny, and positively wonderful to watch. He also found himself at the center of quite a few storylines, and a plot twist or two. One of the biggest plot twists involving this character was the fact that he was actually an augment. This means that he had genetically altered from a young age to improve all kinds of things, such as intelligence, hand-eye coordination, reflexes, stamina, and even height and weight. This was a major revelation for Star Trek fans who had envisioned Bashir to be a representation of a normal human in space. It hurt the series because we could no longer relate to Julian Bashir. He lost his playful innocence that we all loved.15 Saved It – The Ferengi Show Up In RoswellOne of the best episodes in Deep Space Nine was called “Little Green Men”. It linked the future with the past. Every conspiracy theorist out there has heard of Roswell and Area 51, and there are all kinds of different stories relating to it. Some of the more exotic theories involve an alien space craft crash landing in the desert of New Mexico, and the Government has been covering up for decades. Some even suggest that the government communicated with alien survivors of this space craft, and managed to reverse engineer their vehicles.Deep Space Nine paid homage to this conspiracy theory when they put three Ferengi crew members into that very situation. It was a great journey for fans, and while some people didn’t like the episode, it added variety to the overall series.14 Hurt It – Jake Gets His Brain Drained By A Space VampireIn general, Jake Sisko is one of the least liked character in Deep Space Nine. There’s nothing really wrong with the actor, but the stories that revolve around him are a little weird. There are also those who criticize his wardrobe decisions, and anyone can see that these are valid criticisms. His various outfits were so strange that they were often distracting from the actual storyline itself. One of the most heavily criticized episodes in Deep Space Nine was called “The Muse”. It involved a strange woman literally draining Jake’s creative juices from his brain. There was something weird about the whole episode, and it’s a plot twist that is best left forgotten.13 Saved It – The “Rejoined” StorylineJadzia Dax once again proved her worth when a particularly memorable episode came along called “Rejoined”. This was an episode where Dax was reunited with one of her past lovers. There was only one problem. This lover was also a Trill, and she was in a completely different body than Dax remembered. For that matter, Dax was also in a different body.It was interesting watching these two lovers get back together, especially because they had literally known each other in “past lives.” It explored interesting themes many of us have thought about before, and these ideas wouldn’t really be possible without the science fiction setting of Deep Space Nine. Another interesting note is that both these characters were female. When they kissed, it was one of the first televised lesbian kisses in history.12 Hurt It – The Mirror UniverseLongtime fans of the Star Trek series know all about the mirror universe. This is basically the “bizarro world” of the Star Trek universe, where everything is the exact opposite of what it should be. For example, the United Federation Of Planets becomes the Terran Empire, and it stands for completely different values. The Terran Empire is aggressive and dominant in the Mirror Universe, while the Federation is obviously peaceful and explorative. Most Star Trek series involve the Mirror Universe in some way, and Deep Space Nine is no different. While the Mirror Universe might have succeeded as a great plot twist in the other series, it’s mostly regarded as a failure in Deep Space Nine. This universe was mostly uncomfortably weird, especially with the behavior of certain characters, such as Kira.11 Saved It – Quark Is Chosen As The New Grand NagusQuark and his cronies were some of the most interesting characters in the entire show, and strangely enough, they were also some of the most human. The Ferengi actors were usually incredibly entertaining and charismatic, and they brought a life and vigor to the series that is not often seen in the Star Trek universe.Perhaps one of the most memorable plot twists in the series is when Quark is chosen as the next Grand Nagus. For those who don’t know, the Grand Nagus is essentially the king of the Ferengi. We were stunned, as Quark is just a simple bartender on a desolate space station. He never accepted the position, but we always knew he would’ve done a great job.10 Hurt It – O’Brien’s Memory ImplantsIn the episode “Hard Time”, the story focuses on a much beloved character in the Star Trek world, Miles O’Brien. There have been quite a few interesting episodes focused on this unique character. He may be an Engineering expert, but this crew member often finds himself in the thick of the action quite often.O’Brien is actually given memory implants as a punishment. An alien species gives him the memory of having served 20 years in jail, without actually making physically go to prison. As a result, he has a hard time coming to grips with what happened to him. In the end, this plot twist wasn’t really a great addition to the show. It seemed like a cheap and gimmicky plot device, because we couldn’t really relate to him.9 Saved It – O’Brien As A ReplicantThere were plenty of other episodes involving Miles which really shone. One such episode was called “Whispers”, and it totally blew many of us away. This episode kept us guessing until the very end. For the majority of the episode, we’re confused as to why everyone is treating Miles in a strange manner. We get the pressing feeling that something is very wrong, but we’re not sure what it is.In the very end, we’re treated to an amazing plot twist – Miles was a replicant the entire time. He was created by an enemy force to infiltrate Deep Space Nine, and he ended up getting destroyed by the real Miles O’Brien. This plot twist was a very intelligent and thoughtful addition to the series, and many fans enjoyed it.8 Hurt It – Section 31 Recruit BashirJulian Bashir seemed to be at the heart of multiple plot twists. Just when we thought that we knew this interesting character, we were hit with new revelations about his past and his purpose on Deep Space Nine. One of the most confusing things about Bashir was his connection to Section 31. For those who don’t know, Section 31 is kind of like the Special Ops of the Federation. More than that, they are actually able to traverse through time and manipulate both the past and the future. This, of course, gives the writers full license to retcon whatever they please, but it also leads to some interesting stories.Bashir’s link to this clandestine group didn’t really make sense. Why would Section 31 want to recruit a guy like him? He totally lacks the seriousness and sobriety associated with the military unit.7 Saved It – Garak’s True Past Finally RevealedGarak was definitely one of the most interesting characters in Deep Space Nine, and the audience was kept guessing about his true past for a very long time. It took quite a few seasons for his past to become revealed to us, and even then we were only given little scraps of information at a time. His mysterious role as the space station’s tailor was obviously just a ruse, and the tension was built up over time. We just couldn’t wait to figure out who this guy was, and what he was doing on Deep Space Nine.Eventually, we got our answer, and it was one of the best plot twists in the series. It was revealed that he used to be a high-ranking member of the Obsidian Order, the intelligence agency of the Cardassian Empire. It was something we kind of saw coming, but this long-awaited reveal was executed well.6 Hurt It – The Random Addition Of EzriEzri was the source of a lot of debate among the fans. When Jadzia Dax perished, Ezri was the Trill woman who ended up taking on the Dax symbiont. In effect, Ezri was the replacement of Jadzia in more ways than one. She was intended to be a main character in the series, and as such she got a lot of screen time. The only problem was that it never really meant anything.Ezri’s appearance didn’t impact any of the stories in a meaningful way. Her screen time felt like it was a necessity rather than something that was planned from the beginning. Eventually, we started to see less and less of Ezri, and when she appeared, fans were just reminded that she was a totally random addition.5 Saved It – Rom’s Hidden TalentsRom was another character in Deep Space Nine that often felt like a random, meaningless addition. Unlike Ezra, his admittedly minor storyline actually went somewhere, and it was one of the plot twists that we really enjoyed. Rom was the comically dim-witted relative of Quark, who seemed to be utterly hopeless in every way imaginable. He followed Quark’s orders, made constant mistakes, and didn’t really do anything important.Partway through the series, we discovered that Rom was actually a genius. Although he couldn’t crunch numbers and make profits like Quark, he was a mastermind engineer. This new skill earned Rom a place on a vessel in the Bajoran militia, and his talents became widely known. Some fans might have viewed this plot twist as stupid, but it was great to see Rom finally see some success.4 Hurt It – Bashir As A Dominion SpyIf you thought we were done talking about plot twists involving Bashir, think again. Another big storyline involving the doctor was the episode called “Inquisition”. In this episode, Bashir finds himself under suspicion of being a Dominion spy. For those who don’t know, the Dominion is a very old empire in the Gamma quadrant, run by Changelings known as The Founders. During the later seasons of Deep Space Nine, there is a major conflict with this group, called the Dominion War.The entire episode about Bashir’s suspicion of being a Dominion spy was just confusing. This was also the same episode where he was approached by Section 31. There were so many different twists and revelations within this one episode that we were left scratching our heads when it was all said and done. Of course, Bashir wasn’t actually a Dominion spy– we think.3 Saved It – The “Blood Oath” StorylineOne of the best episodes of Deep Space Nine was called “Blood Oath”. In this episode, we are reintroduced to a trio of Klingons that fans might have remembered from the earlier seasons of Star Trek. These familiar faces make one last appearance in the Star Trek universe, and it’s a great one. Jadzia Dax is approached by these three grizzled warriors, and together they set off an adventure to get revenge. On this adventure, fans were reminded how awesome Klingon storylines can be, and there is plenty of action to enjoy. In the end, Kang perishes, but not before Jadzia Dax wins his respect. It’s a great story and one that makes an excellent plot twist from what we’re used to seeing on Deep Space Nine.2 Hurt It – Kira And Odo’s RomanceThere were actually quite a few romances on Deep Space Nine, and for the most part, these were actually pretty interesting storylines. One of the best things about Deep Space Nine was its focus on relationships between crew members and the subtle social dramas that occurred on a space station filled with very different people. However, not all of the romances were created equal. It is generally agreed upon that Kira and Odo’s romance was one of the worst things to happen on the show.It just never seemed natural, and there were plenty of cringeworthy moments in this little side plot. It was a plot twist that no one really asked for, and when it started, most fans just wanted it to stop.1 Saved It – The EndingOne of the best moments in Deep Space Nine was actually the ending. Initially, they had planned to have eight seasons, but this just wasn’t meant to be. There was definitely a danger that the series would end in a way that seemed forced and unnatural, and all the loose ends wouldn’t be tied up. In the end, Deep Space Nine was wrapped up in a very satisfying way for many of the fans. There were plenty of plot twists in this last episode that were perfect for the grand finale. Sisko left to seek out the Prophets, as we always knew that he would. Odo set off to find the Great Link. Worf finally reached his full potential, and started on his journey to become a diplomat. Garak embarked for his home of Cardassia, intent on becoming a leader of this destroyed world. Even O’Brien gets a fitting end as he becomes a teacher at Starfleet Academy. And Quark? He’s still running the bar…—What’s your favorite plot twist in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? Let us know in the comments!

20 Things That Make No Sense About Bones

Category : Lists

Bones went off the air in 2017 with a total of 246 episodes in the can, which is a pretty amazing accomplishment for any procedural drama series. The show was based loosely on the life of author Kathy Reichs, a forensic anthropologist who produced the series and provided the basis for Doctor Temperance Brennan, known as Bones to her husband and collaborator, Agent Seeley Booth.Over the course of the series’ 12 seasons, Dr. Brennan and her ever-expanding team of experts in forensic anthropology teamed up with members of the FBI to uncover the substantial number of murders in the Washington, D.C. area. Their efforts helped make the streets safer from would-be monsters, but their work also landed a crosshairs on each and every one of their backs. This wouldn’t have been a great show if there wasn’t an antagonist or two for the various players to contend with, and Bones had them in spades. Some of our favorite characters were taken out unexpectedly, while others turned out to be just as bad as the bad guys Brennan and her team were going after all along.Whether you were a casual fan or a hardcore binger of the show, there are probably a few details about what was happening that made you think. While these sorts of shows can’t always be accurate, there were some aspects of Bones that just didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Even for those who paid close attention, some details, plot holes, and outright absurdities failed to meet the logic test. Here are 20 Things That Make No Sense About Bones.
20 DR. BRENNAN’S RACIAL PROFILINGIdentifying a victim’s race on Bones is as simple as a side conversation where Dr. Brennan points out a small feature on the skull. The casual observer might take this as a standard method in forensic science, but determining a person’s race is not as easy as the show made it look.As it turns out, identifying a person’s race from their bones is incredibly difficult, and often incorrectly done even by the experts. The Los Angeles County Coroner, Elizabeth Miller, once spoke out about this aspect of the series: “It’s the hardest thing to determine, it is the least accurate, and I’m never surprised when I’m wrong…. Pardon the pun: It’s not a black-and-white issue.” It is possible to determine race from bones, but it’s far from easy and requires a lot more work than we see in the show.19 WHY ALL THE STORAGE BINS ARE BACKLITIf you have ever seen promotional material for Bones and never sat down to watch an episode, odds are you saw the storage bins containing skeletal remains. They were prominently featured throughout the series and made for an interesting set piece. The only problem with these bins is that they were each backlit by a lighting system that made no practical sense whatsoever. Why would you need to light storage bins containing anything other than your awesome G.I. Joe collection? It’s clear the series producers threw this together for a purely aesthetic appeal, but when you are talking about a series that is meant to deal with science and practicality in a methodical manner, this small detail is rather silly.18 CAM’S ENDINGWhen a popular television series consisting of a dozen or more important characters comes to a close, fans are often left wondering what happened to everyone. In most cases, Bones handled this well by indicating what each character would be doing, but not for everyone. One of the characters whose story arc never received a satisfactory conclusion was Cam. We all know that she finally married Arastoo and was happy in her love life, but we never got the answer as to what her plans were professionall. Would she return to the Jeffersonian or not? When the show concluded, she was taking six months off to begin raising three teenage boys from foster care. There was no indication if she would return to her career or not and this left a lot of fans wondering what could happen to her.17 THE NUMBER 447If you were paying close attention across the entire series, you may have noticed the number 447 showing up every now and again. This began in season four and continued until the end. Throughout eight seasons, fans eagerly awaited some explanation of what these numbers might mean, but when the finale rolled around, there wasn’t much in the way of satisfaction. There was little more than a throwaway line in the finale, which left fans wondering what it could mean. Ultimately, that answer was given by the producers and writers of the series. The numbers were simply an indication that something important was about to happen in the lives of the characters. No further explanation was given in the show, which makes this something that failed to add up by the series conclusion.16 FORENSIC SCIENCE IS SPED UP SIGNIFICANTLYThis may be nitpicking as you aren’t going to find a procedural drama on television dealing with forensic science that gets this right. Because the show has to maintain a sense of drama over 42 minutes of programming, the reality of “time” has to be thrown out the window. Bones addressed this issue like most series; it simply ignored the reality of how long it actually takes to do forensic science. What might actually take months in real-time, the crew in Bones managed in minutes. To its credit, Bones was able to handle this in a seamless way that didn’t take away from the drama or keep the story from unfolding. It’s one of those things that doesn’t make sense if you know anything about DNA analysis, but the audience lets it go because the show is so entertaining.15 THEY NEVER CONFIRMED BRENNAN HAD ASPERGER’S SYNDROMEFor many who are familiar with Asperger’s Syndrome, it was pretty obvious that Dr. Brennan was afflicted with the condition. This longtime fan theory was eventually revealed to have merit when Hart Hanson, the series creator confirmed everyone’s suspicions.Hanson revealed that he based the development of the character on a friend of his with Asperger’s Syndrome.Dr. Brennan exhibited many stereotypical traits from the very first day she showed up, which begs the question, why wasn’t it addressed in the show? The simple answer was that it would have changed the tone of the show and the network didn’t want to move it in that direction. That’s unfortunate, even if it is understandable.14 BRENNAN KNEW LITTLE ABOUT HER OWN CULTUREOne of Dr. Brennan’s quirky traits that remained a joke throughout the series was her nearly complete lack of knowledge regarding American culture. This was funny, but odd considering she grew up in America. In some ways, this made sense seeing as she was more focused on the people who had died long ago from other cultures. She was something of an expert when it came to the mating rituals of a culture that no longer existed, but couldn’t understand how to relate to the people around her. Some of this might go back to her undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome, but it doesn’t make much sense when you look closely enough. She didn’t know who Michael Jackson was, which is like not knowing who Superman is. It was funny, but it didn’t make a lot of sense.13 THE TEAM WAS TARGETED WAY TOO OFTEN BY CRIMINALSTelevision shows and especially procedural dramas like Bones have to maintain a sense of conflict or the series will get boring very fast. Would we tune in every week to watch them solve a crime if there was no danger, conflict, or event coming up? Probably not.The problem is that the series ran for 12 seasons, which meant it needed to keep adding new threats to the team, time and time again. The end result was a group of people who were targeted by psychos and nut-jobs far more than reasonably possible. What really doesn’t make sense about this was the lack of Federal protection they should have received given their close relationship with the FBI. Under normal conditions, these people would have all been under protective custody for most of the series.12 ANGELA’S BABY SURVIVEDSeason 12 saw the bombing of the Jeffersonian, which was apparently something the producers had wanted to do for a long time. Whatever their reason for doing so, blowing up a building with a bunch of people in it is always going to raise questions about the survivors. For Angela, the primary concern wasn’t so much about her, but her recently announced pregnancy. Both she and her husband, Hodgins, survived the bombing, but given the level of trauma suffered, Angela’s baby’s survival doesn’t really add up. Angela got banged up pretty badly and thrown about, as one does in a television show featuring a large explosion. Thankfully, she and the baby were OK, even if it doesn’t make sense.11 BOOTH’S LINEAGE TO JOHN WILKES BOOTH IS QUESTIONABLESeeley Booth’s family remained somewhat murky through the first three seasons, but he eventually opened up about the people closest to him. One of the familial relationships that Booth really didn’t enjoy discussing was his connection to John Wilkes Booth, the man who took out Honest Abe. Booth carried a lot of shame throughout his life for having a relation to the man who took out his favorite national leader, but his relation doesn’t exactly add up when you look at the facts.John Wilkes Booth had no children, which means Seeley isn’t a direct descendant of the infamous actor. If he shared a lineage with Booth’s brothers, Edwin and Junius Brutus, that wouldn’t explain his disdain for his family name. It’s a loose affiliation at best, but an interesting characterization of Seeley either way.10 SWEETS’ FATEWhen Bones decided to get rid of Sweets, the series lost a lot of viewers. Sweets was one of those fan-favorite characters whose passing caused a lot of people to rage-quit the series. They didn’t have to take him out like that. Sweets could have just as easily been transferred somewhere else.To be fair, Sweets had to leave the series. John Francis Daley was set to take on a directing role, so the showrunners had to write the character off the series. They decided to remove him permanently, but they could just as easily have transferred him somewhere else, which would have left fans less upset and could have allowed for his eventual return.9 ANGELA BECAME A COMPUTER EXPERT OVERNIGHTWhen we first met Angela, she was an artist who had an uncanny ability to draw/recreate a person’s look from their remains. This helped in the early seasons for identification purposes, but her skillset expanded exponentially through the course of the series. While it’s true she had an undergrad in Computer Science, there was no real explanation as to how she went from sketching on a pad to programming the most advanced forensic science computer system on the planet. That’s not something any random person could easily achieve.Angela’s skills in computer programming popped up like a deus ex machina midway through the series to not only ID a victim from their remains, but also reveal how they died, and just about everything else about them.8 ZACK ADDY’S CHARACTERIZATIONZack Addy is one of the strangest characters from the series. His characterization was all over the place. For the first few seasons, he was one of Dr. Brennan’s lab assistants, but he didn’t remain that way for long. When the third season came to an end, Addy turned out to be a minion of one of the psychopaths who had been testing Brennan and her team. He had been plotting against his coworkers the entire time, which didn’t make a lot of sense.Later on, it turns out he was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, but was also involved with another psycho called The Puppeteer. Frankly, his characterization was never very clear, and that’s mostly due to his story changing from one episode to another.7 BOOTH’S BODY COUNTThe main premise of Bones involves the team hunting down and taking out the various monsters who have strewn the bones of their victims all over the East coast of the United States. In most cases, they are looking for a person who has taken out one or two people, but these criminals don’t hold a candle to Booth. Booth’s body count is far higher than anyone else on the series.Granted, the man was a military sniper and has been put into situations where he was forced to draw his weapon and fire, but the show got way too liberal with his count. If you go back through the show’s episodes and references to his time in the military, Seeley Booth has an official body count of 53, which is much higher than any criminal the team went after.6 THE JEFFERSONIAN’S LOCATIONWhen a television series used a real-world location, it’s important for them to ensure that location makes sense. You can’t show something like the Statue of Liberty from the window of an office that is supposed to be in Seattle so the producers of a series usually try to make sure that doesn’t happen. For Bones, there was one location used in the opening credits that didn’t add up when put to the test. There is a shot of Dulles International Airport at night amidst the beauty of Washington, D.C. As any resident will tell you, Dulles is 25 miles outside the city; not within Washington at all. It turns out the production used Reagan National Airport for filming, but wanted to feature Dulles in the series. The location doesn’t make sense, but it sure is picturesque.5 WAY TOO MANY MONSTERS TO BE REALISTICWhen you are dealing with criminals and psychopaths on a regular basis, the truly crazy ones will bubble up to the surface every once in a while. When you look a bit closely, there were far too many criminals of the “serial” variety on the show.People like Ted Bundy and Aileen Wuornos are incredibly rare in any society. While it may seem that there are a lot of them due to their prevalence in media, they are actually few and far between. That’s not the case on Bones, seeing as the series featured not one, not two, but five serial monsters.4 COMPUTER PROGRAMMING & ANIMATION IS DONE ON THE FLYAs any software developer will tell you, it’s not possible to just jimmy a little code and rewrite a program based on a sentence from a coworker, but that’s how tech is presented on Bones all the time. Whenever Angela displays a possible manner in which a crime might have taken place, Dr. Brennan usually negates the display and suggests an alternative.Angela then looks down at her tablet, spends 1-3 seconds making changes, and the animation magically appears on the screen in exactly the manner Dr. Brennan described. Not only is that not possible, but it suggests an IT professional and graphic designer’s work is simple and easy. It’s a poor characterization of the profession. Even if you know nothing of the technological aspect, it’s fake and way too easy to pull off on the show.3 THE BOMBING OF THE JEFFERSONIANThere was hardly an episode of Bones where someone wasn’t in danger, but the place where they conducted their business seemed safe from harm for most of the series. That is, until the final episode of the series, when a bomb went off in their lab. Frankly, it was something of a surprise that it hadn’t happened before, but when the bomb did go off, it didn’t make much sense for the plot. The bombing was a minor stop on the wild ride that was the series finale. It wasn’t the plot’s evolution that resulted in the Jeffersonian being bombed, it was the showrunners. Michael Peterson and some of the other writers apparently wanted to bomb the place much sooner in the series, which is why they felt they could get away with it in the very end.2 EVERY CHARACTER SHOULD HAVE SEVERE PTSDAs we’ve mentioned, just about every character on the series has undergone significant trauma at the hands of the people they worked to put away. From one bombing to another abduction, these people have had to endure some serious stuff. When something bad happens, they get up and carry on, which makes sense: the series had to continue. In reality, each and every one of these people would be afflicted with severe Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, otherwise known as PTSD. As anyone who has experienced a severe trauma will tell you, it’s not easy to readjust, but the people on the series make it look painless. Granted, the show wouldn’t have worked if everyone was undergoing therapy all the time, but it doesn’t add up given everything they have gone through.1 THE SCIENCE IN THE SHOW IS JUST WRONGShows like Bones work very hard to ensure the science seen or mentioned on screen is accurate– to a point. As we mentioned, it has to be sped up and stretched to fit the format, but the producers wanted to show science, not magic so experts were on-hand for each script and filming. The expert for Bones was Kristina Killgrove, PhD, an expert anthropologist and scientist who went through each and every script to make sure the science added up. While she did her best, not all of the her recommendations were taken on.Numerous episodes had scientific inaccuracies that don’t make sense in real life.In one episode, the team used “Advanced Fusion” to determine the characteristics of a victim’s bones, but Killgrove spoke out on this mentioning that the technique actually determines “nothing interesting” in helping to solve crimes.—What else doesn’t make sense about Bones? 25 Fan Redesigns Of Unexpected Boruto Couples

Category : Lists

The Naruto franchise continues with a whole new group of characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Both an anime and manga series, Boruto features the children of the characters Naruto fans already know, but it also features a lot of familiar faces from the previous series. With a large cast of new characters, there is plenty of speculation from the fanbase about what the future holds. Many of the central characters are preteens, not yet at an age where romantic relationships are on their minds. It’s especially difficult to take on a love interest when you’re busy saving your village. With the precedent for an epilogue set by Naruto Shippūden, though, fans can’t help but wonder which of the new generation might pair off in a few years.Of course, there are also plenty of fans still dissatisfied with how the pairings of the earlier series shook out. They still hold out hope that they might see their favorite relationship come to life. (When you have a character like Tenten who isn’t currently in a relationship, it could still happen!)  All of this “shipping” (preferring one character in a specific relationship) leads to a unique investment in the storyline. It also leads to fans creating many varieties of their own fan works. Some like to write their own stories with fanfiction. Others like to create their own imagery with fanart. After extensive research, we’ve found quite a bit of the latter and rounded up these 25 Fan Redesigns Of Unexpected Boruto Couples.
25 Mitsuki And ChouchouA recent episode of the anime saw Chouchou discover that not all crushes end in happiness. She thought she had feelings for an actor, but he was only interested in superficial things. It was Mitsuki who brought her to her senses, comparing her moral center to the “essence” of her favorite snack, potato chips. When Chouchou later revealed she only shared her chips with boys she liked, she handed off an entire bag to Mitsuki, giving birth to a new relationship among fans.Artist AlinaKZ-97 imagined a future where the two found their way to one another and spent some quality time at a festival. 24 Inojin And SaradaWith Sarada as one of the main trio in Boruto, there are certainly a lot of fans interested in her future. Her mother ended up married to one of her teammates, but there are some fans who don’t want to see her repeat her mother’s path.Instead, there is a small contingent of fans who think Inojin might just be a good match for her. They both are knowledgeable of ninja techniques on paper and work hard to see their practical applications pay off. AkkumaCherry imagined young adult versions of the two. Could you see them together?23 Shikadai And HimawariA young woman falling for her best friend’s brother is one of the oldest tropes in teen fiction – whether it’s on the page or the screen. Some fans think there might be a bit of a role reversal in the Boruto series in the future.Shikadai, despite winding up on a different shinobi team, was originally introduced as Boruto’s best friend. The two know each other better than anyone thanks to the close working relationship between their fathers. Some fans think it’s a matter of time (and aging) before Shikadai falls for his best friend’s little sister. In ZefiMankai’s piece, Himawari and Shikadai are a little older, but clearly made for each other. 22 Sakura And InoWhen Sakura and Ino were children, they were the best of friends. Unfortunately, hormones and a boy named Sasuke came in between them. They became frenemies who competed in everything, but wouldn’t let anyone hurt the other. Fast forward a couple of decades and Sakura ended up married to Sasuke, but he disappears for long periods of time. He went more than a decade without coming home or contacting his family. Some fans, like Tumblr artist Rainsparks, are sure that Sakura could do better than Sasuke. In fact, maybe she should have been with her first real friend Ino all along. 21 Konohamaru And HanabiLong time fans of the Naruto franchise have had a lot of fun speculating about Konohamaru’s potential relationships. After all, they watched him go from a pint-sized admirer of Naruto to a capable adult trusted by the Hokage to be his son’s sensei. One of those long speculated about relationships is with Hinata Hyuga’s little sister Hanabi. After all, Konohamaru is Naruto’s surrogate little brother, so they’re practically family already.  A recent post-episode meetup between the two had them bonding over their worry for Boruto, and fans love them together even more. Sanzo-Sinclaire sketched the two practicing a little jutsu, and we have to say, we’re intrigued. 20 Shikadai And InojinAs far as fans know, no members of the Ino-Shika-Cho trio have ever ended up in a relationship. Maybe that could change. Inojin inherited his mother’s mind transfer abilities, but he also inherited his father’s abilities to use ninjutsu with his artwork, making him unique amongst the traditional team up. Shikadai, on the other hand, primarily uses the Nara clan shadow techniques in the series so far. He has stepped away from tradition by socializing more outside the team’s family group. Why not make this team move into even more new territory by having two of its members enter into a relationship? LittleZion captured what could be a quiet moment between the two in the future. 19 Kawaki And HimawariFans have only recently started getting to know Kawaki, but they’re already wondering what his future holds beyond a confrontation with Boruto. In the anime, Kawaki just emerged on the scene and was brought to stay with Boruto’s family, giving a chance to see him interact with other characters. Fans wonder if a tragic romance with Himawari could be in his future, reminiscent of Sakura’s attempts to get Sasuke to stay in the Hidden Leaf Village.Ro93 gave the potential pairing a more peaceful moment instead of the fighting sure to come in the series. 18 Shino And TentenShino and Tenten were fan-favorites in the original Naruto series. As adults in Boruto, they’re the only two of Naruto’s generation who have no children or significant others that we’ve seen. This might be what has fans holding out hope for them ending up together. As Boruto’s teacher at the Ninja Academy, we saw plenty of Shino in the anime. Tenten, on the other hand, only appeared briefly. She owns her own weapons shop. Since she is also a proctor during the chunin exams, it’s likely Tenten remains in contact with Shino. While irenukia drew the pairing before Boruto got his own series, there are still many fans who hope to see this artwork come to life. 17 Sasuke And KarinWhen Sasuke left the Hidden Leaf Village behind to grow his power, he did so with Orochimaru. It was under Orochimaru’s tutelage that he met Karin. Like Sakura before her, Karin fell hard. The two developed an antagonistic friendship.Years later, Karin actually helped Sakura when she went into labor with Sasuke’s child. Of course, not long after Sakura gave birth, Sasuke disappeared from her life for over a decade. Some fans still wonder if maybe he would have been better suited for a life with Karin, who works outside of the village. Tumblr artist Vicio-Kun gave fans a glimpse at what could be “the sound of love” between them.16 Shikadai And RyogiA laid back guy like his father was at his age, Shikadai makes new friends pretty easily. One of those friends was a young man named Ryogi. Ryogi was caught up with a gang of criminals whom he thought he owed for saving his life. It turns out that they were the ones who got him into the mess in the first place. It was Shikadai who helped him see the light. The two became close while playing games of shogi in the park, and some fans wish that could have blossomed into more.NertonWilliams gave the fans a taste of that with a warm embrace.15 Mitsuki And HimawariJust as there are fans who wonder if Himawari could wind up with her big brother’s best friend one day, there are others who wonder if she could end up with his teammate. Mitsuki learned a lot about friendship and teamwork from Boruto. He’s also learned a lot about relationships from Boruto’s family. Spending so much time with Boruto and his family, it’s only natural he would grow closer with them. Here, artist hxshigaki76 imagines Mitsuki and Himawari as a power couple in the future once they both reach jonin status.  14 Sarada And ChouchouSarada and Chouchou might be members of different shinobi teams once they graduate from the Academy, but the two are still the best of friends. In fact, it’s Chouchou who is always there for Sarada, even accompanying her when she sought to find out more about her father. Chouchou frequently covers up her concern by making situations about her (like musing about the possibility of being adopted), but she’s always there for Sarada. Some fans would like to see the Boruto series make good on subtext that the Naruto series never did, and have a same gender couple in its main characters. Deadvampire32 imagined that couple as Sarada and Chouchou.13 Sumire And MitsukiAt first glance, Sumire and Mitsuki seem like very different people, but really, they have more in common than fans think. They both have some dark family history. Sumire took up her father’s cause, wanting revenge on the Leaf Village, until she connected with her Academy classmates. Mitsuki’s parent is Orochimaru, one of the best known villains in the franchise. The two could have become villains themselves, but so far, they’re both one of the good guys thanks to a connection with Boruto. They also share an interest in science and knowledge. Mitsuki was actually born out of a genetic experimentation, while Sumire went to work for a research center. The two could easily find some common ground, something artist Ro93 highlights in their work. 12 Metal Lee And HimawariHimawari has such a big fan following that you can probably find fan art of her paired up with just about any character in the Naruto franchise. One of those characters happens to be Metal Lee.While both characters have proved themselves capable of handling a fight well, they’re not getting a whole lot of screen time in the anime. Perhaps that’s why it’s easy to see the possibility of Himawari taking an interest in Metal as time goes by. Artist MetaruRicecake took inspiration from the duo’s parents when pairing them up. Both are in some of the most iconic poses used for Hinata Hyuga and Rock Lee in artwork for the franchise.11 Konohamaru And MoegiFriends when they were at the Ninja Academy, and teammates after they graduated, Konohamaru and Moegi have a lot of history. It’s a shame they don’t interact more in Boruto. To be fair, Konohamaru keeps busy leading Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki on missions. Likewise, Moegi is the sensei to the new Ino-Shika-Cho generation. The two don’t have a lot of downtime. If they did, maybe they’d be more than friends. Artist Kazashi imagined just that in the time period between Naruto and Boruto. Maybe a relationship between the two could still be on the horizon. 10 Sarada And MitsukiOn Team Konohamaru, Boruto is the clear standout. It is his series, after all. His teammates Mitsuki and Sarada are also incredibly powerful for their age. Some fans might think Mitsuki and Boruto would make quite the pair, while others favor Boruto and Sarada. We have to say, though, there’s something intriguing about Mitsuki and Sarada. Both of them like to keep their cards close to the vest, not letting everyone know just how powerful they are unless they have to. They trust each other in a fight, but could that camaraderie blossom into something else? Alya-Chaan thinks it could, shown in their piece with the two exchanging gifts. We’ll have to wait and see. 9 Shinki And YodoPrior to Boruto, the main characters fans knew from Suna were all siblings. With a new team lead by Kazekage Gaara, we get a whole knew group of kids who aren’t family.Gaara adopted Shinki as a youngster and his Iron Sand makes him a formidable opponent. Like Gaara before him, he’s confident in his abilities, but has a lot to learn about people. His teammate Yodo is also confident, but underestimates the people around her. The teammates could be quite the interesting pairing.  Sound is an important part of the way Yodo fights, so it’s fitting that music is how she bonds with Shinki in artwork by AlinaKZ-97.8 Rock Lee And TentenMany fans believed Tenten was Metal Lee’s mother. Creators refuted that theory, leaving questions about whether Rock Lee ever married. Some fans still hold out hope for him to end up with his childhood teammate Tenten.Lee was great at hand-to-hand combat as a kid, but didn’t have the aptitude for more “magical” ninjutsu. Tenten had the aptitude, but prefered to use a variety of weapons in battle. They made a great team. With Lee’s excitable personality and Tenten’s down to earth attitude, they also balanced each other out. MilarS created a piece highlighting the possibility of them becoming a family, which is sure to make many long time fans happy. 7 Iwabe And DenkiInitially seen as a bully, it turned out Iwabe was just an unhappy kid who couldn’t seem to graduate from the Ninja Academy. Denki, on the other hand, came from a family that prized technology over shinobi skills. Despite their differences, both just want to prove themselves as shinobi. At the start of the series, Denki was probably the kind of kid Iwabe would have targeted with his anger. As the story progressed, the two became teammates, and Iwabe is now the first to shield Denki in a fight.  Some fans, like artist IwabeWantsTheDenki, hope the relationship between the two will grow even more. 6 Sarada And ShinkiThey faced off during the chunin exams, but Shinki managed to get the better of Sarada. After the exams, Shinki expressed curiosity in Boruto’s behavior, but we haven’t seen much interaction between him and Sarada. It’s easy to see where they might find common ground. Both inherited seriously powerful abilities from their family. Shinki and Sarada are children of close friends (and allies) of Naruto. Both also take becoming a shinobi very seriously. Artist CraziePhase created an image of the two in the snow that certainly makes fans want to see more of them. 5 Boruto And MitsukiThe son of the Seventh Hokage and the son of former Leaf Village enemy Orochimaru might sound like an odd couple, but they definitely work well together. When Mitsuki first came to the Ninja Academy, he had a lot to learn about friendship and teamwork. Most of it he learned from watching Boruto interact with his friends and family. Mitsuki has come a long way from simply being the subject of one of Orochimaru’s experiments. Affectionately referred to as “Sun and Moon” by fans, plenty are sure to love this art by Tumblr user teallinum. 4 Inojin And HimawariAs the son of Ino and Sai, Inojin inherited his father’s ability to give life to drawings. In the anime series, he found himself temporarily blocked. Instead of his father helping him, though, Sai directed him to Boruto’s little sister Himawari. She didn’t have the same ability, but her drawings were easily brought to life by those who did. Himawari’s love for drawing, and the heart she put into it, helped Inojin realize that he was missing that same feeling. The two could easily develop a connection down the line. The two also share a love for plants, which is something Tumblr artist cipolm used to inspire their work.3 Sarada And BorutoWhen they entered the Academy, their classmates thought Sarada and Boruto were close friends as a result of the closeness between their parents. Sarada swiftly shot that down. Easily the more mature of the two, Sarada can’t stand Boruto’s laid back approach to anything.Of course, the two have gotten to know one another a lot better since assigned to Team Konohamaru. With Sarada’s ambition to be Hokage, Boruto promised to protect her and become her right hand. With that kind of future in mind, it’s not hard to understand why so many fans would also like them to become a couple. Tumblr artist pandacapuccino depicted them in a quiet moment before they reach their goals. 2 Sakura And KarinSakura became Sasuke’s wife, but it was Karin who was by his side for much of his formative years. If anyone knows what Sakura went through to become Sasuke’s wife, it’s Karin. This is exactly why some fans think the two might have been better off finding love with one another. After all, Sakura went more than a decade without so much as a note from Sasuke. Karin was even on hand to help deliver their baby and help take care of Sarada when she was ill.Fans and artists like rxtten-violette think the two of them might have made more suitable parents for Sarada. 1 Naruto And SasukeSince the franchise began, there have been fans holding out hope that Naruto and Sasuke will do more than go from rivals to friends. Legions of Naruto fans still believe the duo should have become a romantic pairing. It seems like an unlikely trajectory for them now, as they’re both married to the women who had crushes on them as children. They might be the only two people who understand their busy schedules and commitment to the village.Sometimes, Naruto is the only person Sasuke communicates with for months when he’s on a mission. Artists like Daylight-Darkside still think they’d make a perfect fit.—Did a Boruto pairing you love make it into our list? Are there other pieces of fan art out there we should check out? Let us know in the comments!

Spider-Man PS4: 13 Costumes We Wish We’d Got (And 7 They Should Replace)

Category : Lists

With his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and multiple other video games and comic books, Spider-Man has easily become one of the most popular superheroes out there today. The character was created in 1962 and first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15. When the character was first created, he had a red and blue suit with webbing under his arms. While most versions of Spider-Man change the costume slightly, most are still a variation of the classic red and blue design. That being said, in the last 50 years, comic book artists have given the web-slinger unique suits that look nothing like the original. Many of these suits are worn by Peter Parker, but others are included in storylines that involve a different person with the spider abilities. When Insomniac Games released their newest Spider-Man game on the PS4, they not only crafted new Spidey suits that fans had never seen before, but they also included unlockable suits for players to collect as they progress through the game. Most of these suits are pulled straight from the pages of comic books, while others were pulled from designs that are present in the MCU.Even though there are 28 unlockable suits, there are some suits missing from the game that fans would have liked to see. Likewise, there are a few suits that are in the game that fans could do without. Here are the 13 Costumes We Wish We’d Got In Spider-Man PS4 (And 7 They Should Replace).
20 Wish We’d Gotten: Sam Raimi SuitThe one suit many fans were really looking forward to in the new game was the Spider-Man suit from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. His costume remained pretty much the same throughout the three movies, besides his black suit from Spider-Man 3.Raimi’s trilogy was incredibly popular with movie-goers and comic book fans, which made Sony a ton of money. For a time, Spider-Man 3 was Sony’s highest grossing movie before Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle came out. For years, Tobey Maguire was the face of Spider-Man and fans would have loved to swing around New York in his costume. The game Spider-Man 2 is also regarded as one of the best Spidey games, so including the suit could have been a cool reference. 19 Wish We’d Gotten: The Black SuitThe Symbiote suit, commonly referred to as the Black Suit or the Alien Costume,, made its comic book debut in Amazing Spider-Man #252. The suit was created after a fan named Randy Schueller submitted the idea to Marvel. His idea was to give Spider-Man a suit created by Reed Richards and The Wasp, but Marvel changed the story so that Peter got the suit from a fabric replicator that actually turned out to be a symbiotic life form. The suit was adapted for Spider-Man 3, manipulating Parker into a darker superhero. While this appearance of the character wasn’t that well received, the suit in the comic books is one of Spider-Man’s most famous costume changes and would have been awesome to play in the game. The end of Spider-Man seemed to tease the appearance of a symbiote, so hopefully it will show up in Spider-Man 2.18 Replace: Classic Suit DamagedIt wouldn’t have been right to make a Spider-Man game and not include the classic suit as an additional skin. The classic suit is arguably the best version of the Spider-Man costume and has remained mostly the same since its debut. Thankfully, Insomniac Games decides to include the suit, which was worn by Peter Parker before Otto Octavius developed a new suit for him. You can always go back and equip the classic suit, but the game also offers a battle-worn version of the same suit. While it’s sort of fun to wear a costume that makes Spider-Man look like he’s gone through a tough fight, the suit doesn’t come with an associated suit power. The damaged version of the classic suit really could have been replaced to make room for a different Spider-Man, especially since the classic suit is already included. 17 Wish We’d Gotten: Andrew Garfield’s SuitDuring Sam Raimi’s time on the Spider-Man franchise, fans were left with an entire trilogy of Spidey adventures. Raimi had even made plans for a fourth film which would have introduced Bruce Campbell as Mysterio and included several more villains. After Spider-Man 3 failed with critics, Sony decided to reboot the franchise with a director and a different actor playing Peter Parker.Andrew Garfield was chosen to play Peter Parker and don the Spidey suit. The costume looked very different from previous versions of the suit and had an elongated Spider on the front and back of the costume. While the suit wasn’t everybody’s favorite, it would have been a nice addition to the game, especially if Maguire’s suit was included as well. 16 Wish We’d Gotten: Future Foundation SuitSpider-Man has fought alongside several different superheroes during his crime-fighting career. He has been included in many different teams in the comic books including the Avengers and even the Fantastic Four. The Future Foundation storyline was introduced in 2010 and takes place after Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four passes away. The team is motivated to create a better future for humanity since Mister Fantastic got discouraged by the way scientists were viewing science and its applications.Including Spider-Man on the team was one of the Human Torch’s final requests. The entire team gets white and black suits, Spider-Man included. Giving players the option to play in the black and white suit would have been different than a lot of the other suits and been an awesome addition to the game.15 Replace: Spider UndiesOne of the unlockable suits in Spider-Man actually isn’t even a suit. The Spider Undies costume is simply Peter Parker with his Spider-Man mask and underwear. The costume comes from a joke that takes place after Spider-Man’s mission against Scorpion and he comes out of his hallucination wearing only his mask and underwear. The joke was funny, but didn’t really need a spot in the suit list, especially since the suit power isn’t that helpful. The suit power called “Equalizer” makes enemies go down with only one hit, but Spider-Man will also go down after one hit. This might be helpful for people who are really good at blocking and dodging, but when you also have to complete all of the main and side missions as well as reach 100% completion in all of the districts, it isn’t worth it. 14 Wish We’d Gotten: Iron Spider Suit (Comic Accurate)Fans were thrilled when the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the Iron Spider suit appeared at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was drastically different than what had appeared in the comic books, but still looked awesome none the less. While the MCU version of the Iron Spider suit made it into the game with mechanical legs and all, the comic accurate version of the suit was left in the dust.Concept art for Spider-Man: Homecoming revealed that the filmmakers almost made the suit comic accurate, but it ultimately didn’t happen. Even though swinging around New York in the newest version of the Spider-Man suit is fun and the suit power is incredibly useful, some fans would have liked to see the comic accurate version of the suit as well. 13 Wish We’d Gotten: Superior Spider-Man SuitOver the years, Spider-Man has been called amazing, spectacular, and even superior. The superior Spider-Man comic series ran from January 2013 to June 2014. Instead of Peter Parker inside the Spidey suit, Otto Octavius wore the suit… kind of. After Parker passed away in Amazing Spider-Man #700, Otto implanted his brain into Peter’s body to prove that he could be a better Spider-Man than Peter ever was.The suit had a black and red design and was almost used in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Given that concept art with the Superior Spider-Man suit was created for Homecoming, it would have been a nice nod to the people who worked on the film and more importantly, to the people that worked on the comic book. 12 Replace: Wrestler SuitAnother suit that players can unlock in Spider-Man is called the Wrestler suit. This version of the Wrestler suit was based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books – Ultimate Spider-Man #3 to be exact. The costume dresses the player in blue sweatpants, a red sweater with the spider logo, and a mask that is mainly blue with red and white eyes.Even though this would realistically be the most comfortable suit for the web-slinger to wear, it didn’t need to make it into the game. If a wrestler costume were to be included, it should have been the one from Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie. That being said, the costume does come with a useful suit power called “King of the Ring,” which allows players to throw enemies without having to web them up first. 11 Wish We’d Gotten: Captain Universe SuitThere are some versions of Spider-Man’s suit that truly look nothing like the original design and the Captain Universe costume is one of those suits. Captain Universe himself is a completely different superhero who debuted in Micronauts #8. What’s unique about Captain Universe is that he doesn’t have an alter ego, since it is more of a persona that attaches to different hosts.Spider-Man was one character who became a form of Captain Universe. The suit looks mainly like Captain Universe’s blue and white suit; however, the bottom part of Spider-Man’s mask is still visible on his face. This could have been a cool suit to take selfies with around New York, and the game developers also probably could have thought of an awesome suit power as well. 10 Wish We’d Gotten: Zombie Spider-ManPeter Parker (Earth-2149), typically referred to as Zombie Spider-Man, first appeared in Ultimate Fantastic Four #22 in 2005. He later got an origin story in Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1. Spider-Man turned into a zombie in an alternate universe after an infected Colonel America – that universe’s version of Captain America – bit him.Ash Williams believed the source of the outbreak was the Necronomicon and after Spider-Man got infected, he ate Mary Jane and Aunt May. Horror fans presumably loved this darker version of Spider-Man and gamers probably would have too, that is if it would have been included in the game. That being said, people probably wouldn’t want help from Spider-Man if he was a zombie.9 Replace: Spider Armor MK IV SuitThe majority of the suits in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man are pulled straight from the pages of comic books and that is exactly what happened with the Spider Armor MK. IV. This armor comes from Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4 #1. While there is no doubt the costume looks amazing, it looks fairly similar to a lot of the other suits in the game. The suit power called “Defense Shield,” which creates an energy shield that absorbs damage, can also come in handy, but there are other suits that come with more effective powers. The Spider Armor MK. IV suit definitely isn’t a useless costume, but there are other suits in the Spider-Man universe that could have taken its place. 8 Wish We’d Gotten: The Human Spider CostumeThe Marvel Cinematic Universe has made Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies seem like a distant memory. The last movie starring Maguire came out in 2007 and, since then, two other actors have taken over the role. That being said, most Spider-Man fans will never forget Sam Raimi’s trilogy. In the first Spider-Man, Peter Parker is trying to buy a new car to impress Mary Jane Watson. In order to do that, he decides to try out wrestling with the help of his new-found powers.Parker decides to go by the name of The Human Spider, which Bruce Campbell’s character graciously changes to The Amazing Spider-Man.The scene was an iconic moment in the trilogy and the suit should have made it into the game instead of the Ultimate Spider-Spider-Man version of the Wrestler Suit. 7 Wish We’d Gotten: Bombastic Bag-Man SuitThe Bombastic Bag-Man suit first appeared in the comic books after Peter Parker was finally rid of the alien symbiote in the Baxter Building. In order for Peter to get home undetected, the Human Torch lent him an old Fantastic Four suit. The only problem? The Fantastic Four don’t wear masks, so Peter had to improvise. He had to wear a paper bag over his head in order to hide his identity, but to make matters even worse, Johnny Storm placed a “kick me” sign on Peter’s back. While the suit was embarrassing for Parker to endure, it would be funny to see in the game and would give J. Jonah Jameson some great commentary for his talk show. 6 Replace: Homemade SuitIn Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker had a rather simple costume before Tony Stark helped him out. His suit basically looked like pajamas with goggles attached to his head. His new suit was a much-needed upgrade that not only made him look incredible, but gave him many more useful abilities. The Stark suit made its way into the game along with the MCU Iron Spider suit and the Homemade suit. While the costume doesn’t look completely ridiculous, is anybody really going to wear the Homemade suit with all of the other options? Plus, the game already has two other MCU suits that have special powers, unlike the Homemade suit. This suit really should be replaced to make room for a different one. 5 Wish We’d Gotten: 1602 Spider-ManSpider-Man has had adventures in many different cities and in many different time eras. One timeline takes place in the 1600s. With this version of the character, Peter Parquagh takes the place of Spider-Man who is simply called The Spider. In the comics, Peter becomes Sir Nicholas Fury’s assistant and aids him in missions.Spider-Man still has his classic red and blue colors, only the costume fits in with the clothes of the century and thus stands out a lot from all of his other suits. All of the suits in the game are fairly modern besides the Vintage Spider-Man suit, so having the 1602 suit would have been a neat looking costume to play with. 4 Wish We’d Gotten: Spider-Man 2211While some Spider-Men in the Spider-Verse are from way back in the past, others are from far in the future. The Spider-Man that appears in the universe Earth-9500 is set in the year 2211. This version of Spider-Man is tasked with ensuring that there are no disruptions in the time field. The character may have the red and blue color scheme, but everything else looks completely different from his the classic suit. This version has four mechanized arms attached to his suit, which would have made for a unique ability in the Spider-Man game. Even though the suit isn’t a disguise of Peter Parker, it could have still been put in the game as an unlockable suit. 3 Replace: Spider-Man 2099 White SuitSpider-Man 2099 is yet another version of Spider-Man that takes place in the future. The character’s alter ego is once again not Peter Parker, but rather Miguel O’Hara. This version of Spider-Man was created in the ‘90s and has one of the most unique costumes for the character.Even though the Spider-Man 2099 white suit looks truly stunning, it doesn’t really add much to the game. Spider-Man already includes the original 2099 blue and red suit, so having two suits that look this similar seems unnecessary. The suit power, “Concussion Strike,” also isn’t that helpful, which is yet another reason why it should be replaced with a different suit. 2 Wish We’d Gotten: Identity Crisis SuitsThe Spider-Man: Identity Crisis storyline took place from May to June 1998. In the comics, Spidey is framed by Norman Osbourne and the Trapster after a man is found with his lungs filled with web-fluid. Peter Parker is no longer able to fight crime dressed as Spider-Man, since everyone wants him arrested. In order to continue his crime-fighting career, Parker creates two new heroes named the Hornet and Prodigy. He also creates two villains named Dusk and Ricochet so that he can infiltrate criminal organizations. While adding all four of the suits into Spider-Man would have been a bit much, including both of the hero costumes would have been an awesome shout out to the ‘90s comics. 1 Replace: The ESU CostumeThe ESU costume is another suit that is better off as a one-time joke than as an actual skin. Players who photograph all 50 of the secret locations will unlock this suit, but it isn’t anything to write home about. The suit is just Peter Parker in a Spidey mask with an ESU t-shirt and jeans. Not only does it look super lame compared to all of the other suits, but it also doesn’t come with an associated suit power. Dedicated fans will, of course, want to unlock all of the Spider-Man suits, but this one really isn’t even worth the time and effort and should be replaced by a better suit. —What other suits do you think should replace the current costumes in Spider-Man? Let us know in the comments!

20 Crazy Fan Redesigns Of Unexpected ’90s Cartoon Character Couples

Category : Lists

For those that grew up in the era, fans consider the 1990s cartoon era to be one of the greatest of all time. Some of the great television content that came out for youths during this decade have held up very well by present-day standards. With former ’90s cartoons like Power Rangers and Transformers being turned in to feature films, and animes like Pokémon and Dragon Ball still producing great content, we can see the strength of shows from this era.The reason why these shows have held up so well over time is due to their characters . Not only were the characters developed in a way that made them entertaining for fans, but they were also given personalities that transcended the shows they were on. If the character was meant to stand for everything that was good in the world, then fans truly felt that they were the personification of good. It does not matter if it was Batman or Bobby’s World, the shows made viewers feel something each episode. That is why ’90s cartoon characters work so well with fan art. Despite some of these shows not being on the air for over twenty years, fans still love the thought of these characters being a part of a relationship. There are extra bonus points given out for when these fantastic artists are able to surprise everyone with who they pair characters with. It is easy to pair characters that are “meant to be together,” but to throw a monkey-wrench in and pair them with someone unexpected? That is something artistic. Here are 20 Crazy Fan Redesigns Of Unexpected ’90s Cartoon Character Couples:
20 Poison Ivy & Two-FaceAsk any ’90s cartoon fan, and they will point to Batman: The Animated Series as one of the greatest of all time. Many fingers point to how the show was able to introduce some older characters to a new audience. Especially when it came to the villains.Imagine if they joined forces together as a couple to take Batman. It would be hard to conquer the combination of Poison Ivy’s deadly plants and Two-Face’s diabolical plans. With so many diabolical villains to explore from Batman, check out the some more art from the artist here. Here’s hoping that the artist explores what their children would look like, because that would be a sight to see!19 Edna Krabappel & Bart SimpsonAy Caramba! Who would have thought that Springfield’s resident bad boy would wind up dating his former teacher? After years of tormenting her as a student at Springfield Elementary, it seems that Bart has finally toned his attitude down. He has even toned it down enough to actually catch the attention of Edna Krabappel. She may have hated having Bart in her class for so long– especially because he has not graduated in almost thirty years– but seems to have come around on him later in life. The real question is – how does Principal Skinner feel about Bart dating his former girlfriend? Hopefully he doesn’t have a cow! There is plenty more Simpsons artwork at Matsuri’s art page, in case anyone wants to check out on their other favorite characters.18 Beavis & ButtheadConsidering that they spent all their time together on the couch, it makes sense that they would eventually get closer. Even though they do not seem to know what is going on half the time, it seems that Beavis and Butthead eventually recognized that they were sitting next to their soulmate all along.Neither of them have also never been very successful with “scoring chicks,” but hopefully time watching music videos on MTV taught them how to kiss properly. Otherwise this is not going to be a very pleasant experience when Butthead lays his lips on Beavis. Looking for more ’90s cartoon fan art? Check out the artist here.17 Arthur & FrancineIt also seems that Arthur finally started to see who was right in front of him throughout his childhood. Out of all the other characters that live in Elwood City, Francine was certainly the coolest one. Muffy is a spoiled girl, and Fern does not have a lot of self-confidence. Meanwhile, Francine’s personality makes her incredibly down-to-earth. She always bonded well with the entire group, but most fandoms pointed towards her getting together with Buster later in life based on how much fun they had together. To see a free-spirit like Francine end up with Arthur is very surprising. Hopefully these two wind up very happy together! Contributor InCaseYouArt is to thank for this (and many more) creations about television shows.16 Wanda & ArnoldLooks like life has moved far beyond the group’s time with Miss Frizzle on the Magic School Bus. While they were the polar opposites while attending Frizzle’s class, it seems that Wanda has warmed up to the once very timid Arnold. Wanda was always the boldest kid in the classroom when they went on their magical adventures, and it looks like she has just gotten bolder now that she is older. Meanwhile, Arnold seems like his regular, worried self and is almost hoping that he stayed home today.Opposites definitely attract!Want to see some other crazy ’90s art? Check out some more from muimushroom here.15 Angelica & ChuckieThankfully some of the characters in these shows are able to forget some of the negative experiences from their childhood. It seems that Chuckie has fully put them behind him. In fact, it appears that he has fallen in love.To say that Angelica was a bully to the babies in Rugrats would be an understatement. No matter where the group turned, Angelica was there in front of them to put a stop to their fun. In particular, Angelica enjoyed targeting Chuckie because he was not able to defend himself as well as the other kids.  Thankfully they have gotten past that, and made something truly beautiful.Out of all the fantasy pairings on this list, this one is the most heart-warming. As the artist Jose-Ramiro has included, Angelica and Chuckie have even named their child after his father.14 Sailor Moon & GokuWhat happens when a Super Saiyan and a Sailor Scout mix together? Apparently a big surprise for someone who thought they were the strongest person in the universe. Even though Goku’s strength may be over 8,000 (or is it 9,000), it seems that he has found a woman capable of out-lifting him. She is the one – Sailor Moon! The Soldier of Love and Justice has taken a break from fighting the forces of evil to scoop up her potential mate, and looks incredibly pleased in doing so.This artist has taken the two largest mainstream animes geared towards young boys and girls, and mashed them together in to the couple that no one knew they wanted. However, now that everyone has seen it, we are in love too. The only thing that SailorballGT missed from this photo is Tuxedo Mask crying in the background.13 Wolverine & StormEven the strongest ones can have the softest hearts. That is what happens when adamantium meets lightning. It is well known that the ’90s version of X-Men’s Wolverine has a big crush on Jean Grey. However, it seems that he finally took the hint from Cyclops to stay away from his girl, and move on to someone much more his speed. Storm is one of the strongest mutants in the group, and likely the only one who can keep Logan in line. He may have a tendency to lash out angrily, but surely someone this strong can curb any of these feelings. This art by dkcissner is inspired by an episode of X-Men the Animated Series, with the character designs based on X-Men Evolution.12 Kyle & StanIf fans look past the vulgarity, there could be the beginnings of a beautiful relationship budding in the South Park gang. While both Kyle and Stan are not nearly as vulgar as Cartman, they are certainly not suitable for children. This is why it is so nice to see a softer side of both of them. This may be the first time that either character is seen as showing true affection for another person.Considering that South Park has been on the air for 22 seasons, the show is now quite long in the tooth. Perhaps this couple, which artist Kite-Mitiko has dreamed up, is the answer to making the show more popular in 2018.11 SpongeBob & SandyLooking for the cutest love affair you did not know existed? Look no further than stephgomz’s art dedicated to Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob Square ants. While these two have never shown feelings for each other on the show before, fans are now wishing that would. There may not be much reason for a burger cook and a scientist to get together, but this picture proves they there is an irresistible attraction between the two. Could a sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea give Sandy what she needs? Will Patrick be okay with relationship? By adding in The Little Mermaid comparison, this couple got even cuter. All that is missing is Gary the Snail meowing along in the background.10 Patti & RogerThere are two main storylines on Doug – there is Doug’s love for Patti Mayonnaise, and his hatred for Roger Klotz. Throughout his entire school-life, Doug has chased after Patti and run from Roger. That is why seeing Patti end up with his mortal enemy is surely Doug’s worst fear come to life. The artist Sallychan surely did not mean to break hearts with this photo, but every Doug fan weeps a little bit when they see this. Not even Quail-man can undo this problem in the world.9 Raphael & AprilTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael is well-known for having the true temperament of a teenager. His mood swings have gotten him in to trouble over the years, and usually result in his brothers needing to bail him out. However, it seems that this time his emotions have worked out in his favor.April O’Neil is one of the only humans to know about the turtle’s existence. She has spent so much time with them that surely she has wondered what life would be like if they were human. In SetoAngel’s fan art, she finally gets that opportunity, and it seems she is drawn to the human Raphael.8 Daria & TomDid Daria and Tom get together before the end of the series? They certainly did, but that does not mean fans have not been pining for them to get back together ever since. Daria is perhaps one of the most well-known outcasts from the 1990s. Her life was never picturesque, as everyone around her never seemed to fully understand her. The only constant part about Daria’s life in Lawndale is her friendship with Jane, which is what made it so surprising when she got together with Jane’s ex-boyfriend Tom.While actions like this usually turn fanbases against a character, fans instantly fell in love with the Daria-Tom relationship. When they ultimately broke up at the end of the series, it was heartbreaking for fans. Thankfully, they can live on forever in SerifeB’s art projects.7 Ren & Stimpy Artist SkunkyNoid has managed to pair together two characters who should never have ended up together. Despite all of their years of hijinks, Ren and Stimpy have no business being in a relationship together, especially based on how Ren has treated Stimpson J. Cat over the years.Who ever thought they would end up in a relationship? However, if there is one theme when it comes to this list, it has to be that opposites always seem to attract. Perhaps after finally settling down when their show ended, Ren realized that Stimpy was the love he was looking for all along.6 Heffer & HutchinsonWant to know why the ’90s were fantastic? Because it was 100% possible to dream up a relationship between a married, doctor with a hook for a hand and an over-sized buffoon of a steer.  Dr. Paula Hutchinson may be married to the emotionally taxing Filburt, but it seems that Heffer’s overwhelming charm won her away. Hutch is always someone to see the good in everyone– which fully explains her relationship with Filburt. That must also explain why she has fallen in love with someone that everyone else considers to be a fool. While there may not be a lot of sparkling conversation, there will certainly be a lot of laughs in their relationship. Looking for some other drawings that are a hoot? Check out others from the artist here.5 Gretchen & VinceThe best kind of love is the one that has been in front of someone the entire time– they just did not realize it. It gets even better when that relationship stems from a childhood friendship. The Recess gang featured every type of school-yard trope that everyone remembers from elementary school. Despite their differences, Vince and Gretchen were both a part of the same group of friends. It seems that through all of those adventures on the playground, a playful relationship continued as they grew older.Vince has realized he has feelings for Gretchen. The artist goofymoNkey has perfectly captured their personalities, and the beginning of a very unexpected relationship.4 Fifi Lafume & WakkoWhen he is not busy running around with his brother and sister on the Warner Bros. lot, Wakko has found someone who can finally calm him down. Despite being known as the wild one of the family, Wakko seems totally at ease when staring in to Fifi Lafume’s eyes. Fifi herself is no stranger to craziness, and she comes from the Tiny Toon family, who know how to get into craziness themselves. There is something beautiful seeing these characters at peace while skating together. There is nothing loud about this relationship, just quiet bliss. VovaNinja is a fan of dreaming up plenty of cartoon couples – more of which can be seen here!3 Dexter & BlossomWhat happens when you mix a scientist with super-powered little girl? Apparently an adorably cute couple. A genius like Dexter would be enthralled with Blossom. After all, the Powerpuff Girls were created in a lab from an experiment, which is right up Dexter’s alley.Could someone who is made of “sugar, spice, and everything nice” co-exist with an evil genius? As this fan artist explores in their drawings, sometimes opposites attract in the fantasy world. Perhaps as Dexter grew up, he became less focused on taking over the world, which is how he was able to connect with someone as sweet as Blossom.2 Daphne & ShaggyAny Scooby-Doo fan knows that Daphne and Fred were meant to end up together. With Fred’s disposition as the alpha-male of the Scooby-Gang, and Daphne’s proclivity to needing rescue, they are a natural fit together. This stereotype is exactly what makes a relationship between her and the slacker Shaggy even more entertaining.Their personalities could not be more opposite – Daphne is a princess while Shaggy is a slacker – but these friends could be a very fun couple if they let their guard down. Besides, Shaggy does not wear a silly neckerchief like Fred, so he is instantly a cooler person. The artist Jose-Ramiro has done it again and dreamed up another great couple – have a look for some more at his page.1 SpongeBob & SquidwardIt seems that the artist Sir-Cupid has found one of the most unlikely couples in cartoon history.  SpongeBob and Squidward have a very odd relationship on their show. SpongeBob believes them to be great friends, while Squidward resents everything that SpongeBob stands for. In fact, he regularly sits and loathes all the fun and noise that comes from SpongeBob’s home. Meanwhile, SpongeBob is fully oblivious to how much Squidward hates him – he just continues to go about his day happily.Could it be that underneath all of that hatred there is actually longing and affection from the squid to the sponge? It looks like all of Squidward’s loathing is not fully gone, but that could just make their relationship even spicier!—Which of these couples do you think makes the most sense? Let us know in the comments!
