Berlin, Oct 10: Stuttgart have appointed Markus Weinzierl as their new head coach, the struggling Bundesliga side confirmed in an official statement.

Two days after the dismissal of coach Tayfun Korkut, Stuttgart have named former Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl, who has penned a deal until June 2020, as their new coach, reports Xinhua news agency.
“With Markus Weinzierl we have committed an absolutely success-hungry coach, who knows the Bundesliga very well and that is important in our situation. We are convinced that we have signed the right coach for Stuttgart. He will decisively develop our team,” Stuttgart’s sporting director Michael Reschke said on Tuesday.

Stuttgart sacked Tayfun Korkut after slumping to the last place in the Bundesliga standings following Saturday’s 1-3 loss to Hannover.
“I am really looking forward to the task. Stuttgart is currently in a difficult position, Nevertheless, I am convinced of the team’s potential. I have been watching the Bundesliga intensively over the past few months and I am eager to start working with my new team,” Weinzierl told the club’s official home page.
